- Write a 2 paragraph comment on your selected lifestyle and the implications of maintaining it. This information is to be added to your showcase of learning.
Week 2
- Keep a meal log for your family for the week (Mon-Thurs) and indicate what your family would usually eat on a Fri/Sat/Sun.
- Consider breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as drinks.
- Estimate the weekly cost of feeding your family. Work out the average food cost per person per week.
- Add this information to your showcase of learning.
Week 3

- Develop a Plus/Minus/Interesting (PMI) chart about budgeting.
- Research and write the meanings of the following financial literacy terms:
~Budget
~Gross Income
~Savings
~Expenses
~Balance
Weeks 4-6
Life Skills Contract: (Three Weeks)
- Students to complete life skills contract, requiring them to complete a range of practical activities (e.g. cooking family meal, cleaning cars, campaign for change, dishes, supervising younger child (school time/buddy class), watch the news, research a topical issue (e.g. news item) to present to the class.
- Students earn “house point dollars” for every activity completed.
Week 7
- How has your increased contribution to the household chores affected your family dynamics?
- Self-assessment (4-6 sentences): How has this contract affected you personally; both positively and negatively?
- Interview family members (3) and ask for feedback on how has this affected them?
- Have your parents/caregivers noticed a change in the household’s daily routines?
- Add this information to your showcase of learning.
Week 8
- Prepare a creative presentation (add to your showcase of learning) to share your experience and your families feedback.
- Based on the feedback, devise a slogan/mantra/proverb/saying/moral for displaying in your bedroom (add to your showcase of learning).
